The Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) aims at providing a knowledge base to actively bend the curve of marine and coastal biodiversity loss. For this reason, we carry out:
(1) Frontier Applied research that informs active ecosystem (& biodiversity) restoration measures, as well as how to maximize biodiversity in nature-based solutions
(2) Fundamental research, that helps understanding how ecosystems and biodiversity function

Welke concrete acties gaat Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) komende twee jaar uitvoeren om te werken aan bovengenoemde ambitie(s)?

• We will apply for several research grants related to (1) Frontier Applied research, that inform active ecosystem (& biodiversity) restoration measures, as well as how to maximize biodiversity in Nature-Based solution and (2) Fundamental research, that helps understanding how ecosystems and biodiversity function
• We will actively pursue interactions with governmental organizations, companies and NGO's to create impact. Where possible we will also actively promote the importance of Ecosystem Restoration and Biodiversity recovery in the media
